“Long Ash” cigar contest

An ash-holding contest at Le Grand Casino La Mamounia: keep your cigar’s ash intact for as long as you can without dropping it. Three prizes, including a box of twenty Davidoff.

The “Long Ash” is an ash-holding contest: every entrant smokes the same cigar and tries to keep its column of ash intact for as long as possible without letting it fall. It tests the handling of the burn more than stamina — an even combustion, a measured draw, no sudden movements. Le Grand Casino La Mamounia ran it on a Thursday evening in May, over two hours, in its lounge; entry was taken at reception for 300 dirhams. Three prizes rewarded the longest ashes: a box of twenty Davidoff cigars, dinner for two at the La Palme d’Or restaurant, and a cigar ashtray. El Phoenicio and Mgg Crazy Life were partners.
