Montecristo in Morocco: The Official Price of Every Vitola

By the CIGARA house, published

Stylised illustration in golden line work: a banded pyramid cigar lying on the price-list line beneath a triangle edged with six swords around a fleur-de-lis, a wisp of smoke rising from the foot

Montecristo is the best-selling Havana brand in the world, and Morocco’s price list reflects it: 35 approved references, from the Joyitas at 60 DH to the Leyenda at 810 DH, the widest Cuban range in the country after Cohiba. Born in 1935 in Havana at Alonso Menéndez’s Particulares factory, the brand owes its name to the novel by Alexandre Dumas that the factory readers used to read aloud to the rollers — and its emblem, six crossed swords around a fleur-de-lis, is one of the most recognisable in the cigar world. Here is its complete Moroccan range, line by line, per stick, per box and in tubes.

What “official price” means here

In Morocco, the price of a Montecristo is not negotiated: it is set by decree, published by customs circular and identical across the official channel, from Rabat to Marrakech. One detail that matters this year: the wave of increases of 1 April 2026 raised nearly the whole range by 10 DH — the No. 4 went from 140 to 150 DH, the Edmundo from 300 to 310 DH — where Cohiba was spared. The prices below are those in force since April, with the January tariff alongside wherever it changed; our full price list sets the brand among the other houses. All prices are per stick, which you can buy as such at the counter.

The numbered line, the historic backbone

The founding vitolas, those of the 1930s, carry numbers rather than names — No. 1 to No. 5 in descending order of length — joined since by the Joyitas, the Media Corona and the tubed versions:

Vitola Per stick January 2026 Box
Joyitas 60 DH 58 DH 25
No. 5 130 DH 120 DH 25
Media Corona 130 DH 120 DH 25
No. 4 150 DH 140 DH 25 or 15
No. 3 190 DH 180 DH 25 or 15
Petit No. 2 210 DH 200 DH 25 or 15
Petit Tubos 230 DH 220 DH 10
Tubos 250 DH unchanged 10
No. 1 260 DH 250 DH 25
No. 2 270 DH 260 DH 25 or 15

Three landmarks. The No. 4 at 150 DH is the world’s best-selling hand-made Havana, a 45-minute petit corona whose band you will find in every serious tobacconist in the kingdom; the Petit Tubos, at 230 DH, is the same cigar in an aluminium tube. The No. 2 at 270 DH, a pyramid of 15.6 centimetres, is the brand’s most famous cigar and its tasting benchmark; the Petit No. 2 condenses the format at 210 DH. The Joyitas at 60 DH, a slim half-hour panetela, is the cheapest Montecristo on the list on the cigar side.

Especiales, Supremos and 80 Aniversario

Vitola Per stick January 2026 Box
Especial No. 1 210 DH 200 DH 25
Especial No. 2 250 DH 240 DH 25
Supremos 260 DH 250 DH 25
80 Aniversario 310 DH unchanged 20

The two Especiales are the house’s long, slim vitolas, the No. 1 a 19-centimetre lancero, the No. 2 a shorter format. The Supremos is the 2019 limited edition, still approved at 260 DH; the 80 Aniversario, a thick vitola launched in 2016 for the brand’s 80th birthday, is sold in boxes of 20 and did not move in April.

The Edmundo line, from Petit to Double

Created in 2004 around a generous ring gauge, the Edmundo line is the fullest on Morocco’s list after the numbered one:

Vitola Per stick January 2026 Box
Petit Edmundo 240 DH 230 DH 25 or 10
Petit Edmundo AT 270 DH 260 DH 15
Edmundo 310 DH 300 DH 25 or 15
Edmundo AT 330 DH 320 DH 15
Double Edmundo 360 DH 350 DH 25 or 10

The Petit Edmundo at 240 DH, short and thick, is one of the most requested formats at the counter; the Edmundo at 310 DH extends it into a long robusto; the Double Edmundo at 360 DH is the longest of the three. The AT versions — aluminium tube, the individual case, sold by 15 — cost 20 to 30 DH more per stick and protect the cigar on the move, a real argument under the Moroccan climate.

The Open line: Regata, Master, Eagle

Launched in 2009 with a lighter blend for the open-air cigar, the Open line is the mildest in the house:

Vitola Per stick January 2026 Box
Regata 210 DH 200 DH 20
Regata AT 230 DH 220 DH 15
Master 250 DH 240 DH 20
Master AT 270 DH 260 DH 15
Eagle 330 DH 320 DH 20
Eagle AT 360 DH 350 DH 15

The Regata, a small figurado, is the line’s entry point at 210 DH; the Master is its robusto; the Eagle, the large format of an hour and a half. Each comes in a tube, 20 to 30 DH more.

The Línea 1935: Dumas, Maltes, Leyenda

Presented in 2017, the Línea 1935 is the brand’s top of the range, three thick vitolas sold in boxes of 20:

Vitola Per stick January 2026 The box of 20
Dumas 600 DH unchanged 12,000 DH
Maltes 700 DH unchanged 14,000 DH
Leyenda 810 DH 800 DH 16,200 DH

This is the only tier of the list where Montecristo reaches the tariff of the classic Cohibas: the Leyenda at 810 DH is worth a Cohiba Robustos, and the Dumas at 600 DH a Davidoff Double R. At this level, buying by the stick makes full sense, and Morocco’s list allows it.

The box, in round figures

The list is quoted per stick; for those who think in boxes, here are the most requested references:

Starting Montecristo at 14 DH

The brand also has its small format, and it is the cheapest way in:

Reference Packet Price Apiece
Montecristo Mini 10 140 DH 14 DH
Montecristo Club 10 150 DH 15 DH
Montecristo Short 10 200 DH 20 DH

A Mini at 14 DH against a No. 4 at 150 DH: ten times less for the same band, while you learn the gestures. Our guide to cigarillos details what the small format offers — and what it does not replace.

Where to find them in Morocco

In the five official Habanos shops — the Casa del Habano in Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakech, and the Habanos Especialist at M Avenue — supplied by the exclusive distributor of Havanas in Morocco, Altadis Maroc (the Société marocaine des tabacs, the former Régie des tabacs, part of Imperial Brands since 2008, which Habanos S.A. names as its exclusive distributor for the kingdom), and, for the No. 4, the Petit Tubos and the cigarillos, in most approved tobacconists and palace-hotel humidors. The Línea 1935, the Especiales and the Supremos are asked for at the counter, and sometimes waited for: stocks are erratic, call before you make the trip. Our guide to where to buy covers the channel city by city.

One last word that doubles as a guarantee: the Montecristo No. 4 is, alongside the Cohiba, the most counterfeited Havana on the market, precisely because everyone knows its band. A No. 4 at 80 DH, a box of 25 “on offer” at 2,000 DH: that is never a bargain, it is a counterfeit. At the official price, at the official counter — that is the whole rule, and it fits on one line.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Montecristo cost in Morocco?
From 60 DH to 810 DH per stick, at the administered tariff in force since 1 April 2026. The Joyitas opens the range at 60 DH, the No. 5 and the Media Corona follow at 130 DH, the No. 4 sits at 150 DH, the No. 2 at 270 DH, the Edmundo at 310 DH, and the Línea 1935 closes it: 600 DH for the Dumas, 700 DH for the Maltes, 810 DH for the Leyenda. Nearly the whole range went up by 10 DH in April 2026.
How much does a Montecristo No. 4 cost in Morocco?
150 DH per stick since 1 April 2026, against 140 DH from January to March. It is sold in boxes of 25 (3,750 DH) and of 15 (2,250 DH), and it is the most widespread Havana in the country: you will find it in the five official Habanos shops, in palace-hotel humidors and in most serious tobacconists. The same cigar in a tube, the Petit Tubos, costs 230 DH.
How much does a box of Montecristo cost in Morocco?
The list quotes prices per stick; the box is a matter of multiplication. In boxes of 25: Joyitas 1,500 DH, No. 4 3,750 DH, No. 3 4,750 DH, No. 1 6,500 DH, No. 2 6,750 DH, Edmundo 7,750 DH. In boxes of 10: Petit Tubos 2,300 DH, Petit Edmundo 2,400 DH, Tubos 2,500 DH, Double Edmundo 3,600 DH. The Línea 1935 is sold by 20: 12,000 DH of Dumas, 14,000 DH of Maltes, 16,200 DH of Leyenda.
Which Montecristo should you start with?
With the small format: a Montecristo Mini comes to 14 DH apiece and a Club to 15 DH, enough to get to know the house's flavour without committing an evening. On the cigar side, the Joyitas at 60 DH is a slim half-hour panetela, and the No. 4 at 150 DH remains the classic initiation: a 45-minute petit corona, medium-bodied, the one generations of enthusiasts have started with. The No. 2 at 270 DH, a pyramid of an hour and a half, can wait until the gestures are second nature.
Did Montecristo prices go up in 2026?
Yes, twice. The circular of 30 December 2025 rebuilt the whole list on 1 January, then that of 31 March 2026 raised nearly the entire Montecristo range by 10 DH on 1 April: No. 4 from 140 to 150 DH, No. 2 from 260 to 270 DH, Edmundo from 300 to 310 DH, Leyenda from 800 to 810 DH. Only four vitolas stayed put: Tubos (250 DH), 80 Aniversario (310 DH), Dumas (600 DH) and Maltes (700 DH). Cohiba, by contrast, was spared.
